I have a confession to make.
I’ve had the same vacuum for the last 13 years.
This is her, she is a “THE BOSS”.
5 Things to Know About My Current “THE BOSS” Vacuum
- Hubs and I did a TON of research before buying her and have been pleased with her performance, overall.
- We use her multiple times a week because I’m a clean freak of nature.
- She weighs a metric ton (okay, maybe not a metric ton, but she is heavy enough that no one, but hubs, can take her up or down the stairs…and we live in a three-level house).
- She has duck-tape all over her hose, which means that suction is less than optimal.
- And because I’m keeping it real, the beater bar looks like this... (what in the world is that brown stuff all over everything?!?!?!) Which means it may have only been cleaned once in the last 13 years. #gross
And finally, we thought THE BOSS was a good vacuum until THIS THING arrived at our house last October. Isn’t that the truth? You think your vacuum is doing a “good” job until you add another “thing” (or in this case a DOG) into the mix and you spend 15 minutes trying to get the same patch of carpet dog-hair FREE.
We knew we needed a new vacuum. And in talking with my friends, all of them were raving about their Dyson and its cyclone air suction, but when I looked at the price tag, I about lost my lunch. For $485, it better do all the by itself vacuuming too.
So I was stuck…I needed a vacuum with SUPER SUCTION and all the bells and whistles to keep up with my busy (and dirty) family and dog, that was also cost-effective, enter the Eureka Brushroll Clean Vacuum.
Eureka Brushroll Clean Vacuum
So for the next four weeks, I’m going to be documenting my experience with the Eureka Brushroll Clean Vacuum and sharing it with all of you. As I did a little research, here were some of the cool “headlines”.
- Self-Cleaning Brushroll. Never use scissors again to cut tangled hair (or anything) away from the brushroll again. With a simple touch of a button, this vacuum cleans and removes tangles from your brushroll and deposits them directly into the dust cup.
- Airspeed Technology. Engineered with an efficient path of limited bends and turns, allowing more air to pass through the vacuum for more deep cleaning suction power. (In fact, independent testing confirms its proven power cleans carpets better than a Dyson DC41.)
- Scatterproof Multi-Surface Cleaning. All-Surface Suction Plates all concentrated airflow on all floor types. Just push a button and deactivate the brushroll to clean bare floors without scattering crumbs or dog hair all over the place.
- And it costs $198 and is available at Walmart.
Added bonus…I’m going to be giving away ONE Eureka Brushroll Clean Vacuum (value $199.98) every week – for a total of FOUR vacuums and today is the first giveaway.
If you are reading this post in a feed reader, this is a Rafflecoptor Giveaway and will require you to to the website to enter. Giveaway open till end of day May 7th and only to residents of the continuous 48-states.

I had a Dyson. I loved it. But it died, and I didn’t want to spend the money on a new one. So I got a Shark. I like it pretty well, but I’m not in LOVE with it.
I’ve been looking for new vacuum for over a year, ours is way too heavy for me to use.
I just moved into a new home in April and I’m still trying to get rid of dog hair from my carpets from the previous owner. This sounds like a great solution.
Oh, to have a good vacuum would be wonderful!
I have a Miele, and I do really like it. However, I have always wanted to have a vacuum for each floor of my house. And getting the hair out of the brushroll, UGH!

Would love to win this vacuum. Sounds like a great addition to my cleaning tools.
We have indoor pets and hard wood floors. I hate that our current is mega heavy and seems to only work on the carpeting. I’m working hard on sticking to a budget so a high dollar vacuum isn’t for me. Thanks for the great info & the chance to win!

I have a dyson and I love it. However, it is 10 years old now and is ready to be retired. It really came in handy with pets hair.
My current vacuum we call the vacuum screamer it is so loud I have everyone go outside the house when I use it and have to use ear plugs. I cannot remember the model but it is a model that I have problems finding bags that fit and I keep buying the wrong one.

I currently have a Dyson and I love it, but it is about 10 years old and makes an annoying squeaking sound. It is time for a new one, but I am too cheap to get one just yet.
Mine is over 10 years old. Really need new one!

I love my DYSON but it keeps breaking and it’s huge and bulky ..
this one looks much lighter and less complicated.

I have a old hand me down that does a horrible job. I would love a nice reliable vacuum. especially with 3 kids its hard to keep the house clean.
I have had the same vacuum for nearly 20 years. It is probably time to upgrade. The self cleaning function sounds lovely.
I would love a new vacuum, my vacuum was given to me as a hand me down from my mother in law! It is huge and super heavy!

The last brand new vacuum I had was over 30 years ago and that was a wedding present and it died after 20 years. It was such a good vacuum. My husband keeps bringing me used ones that last just for a little while and I hate them. I want a new vacuum so bad….
Andrea Williams says
I have a cheap vacuum that works pretty well but leaves much to be desired. I think the self cleaning brushroll on this Eureka is really neat.
nicole dziedzic says
Our current vacuum is not to memorable, cause I cant even recall the brand name, I just know that the suction power is lacking, and the hose part on the tools, does not even pick up anything. We could really use a nice one.
I’ve had my vacuum (Hoover) for 13 yrs as well! No duck tape, but I can totally identify with the carrying up/down stairs…too heavy!
Laura J says
Our vacuum is an older one and uses the bags. It is getting so hard to find them in our stores now days, so I have been ordering online. And…if I dont notice I am running low…cant vacuum till the order arrives! I would love a new vacuum that does not use the bags! It looks so nice and I love the self cleaning brushroll! That is so neat! I also REALLY love that you can use on floors and it has the scatter proof …so those crumbs dont come back and hit you in the legs! LOL
I hate having to cut hair off the roller of my vacuum. 🙁
I also have your original Eureka Boss and it just bit the dust too! I have been looking for a new vacuum and just haven’t been able to decide, so I would love for you to make the decision easy!
Jennifer G says
I clean the floors in my living room at least once a day, sometimes twice. It all depends on the kids and how much fun they have making messes during the day.

I have a hand-me-down vacuum. I would love a new vacuum!
I’ve had a dyson animal for a few years now and love it! It does an awesome job! It’s very heavy though and difficult to lug up and down the stairs.
