During the month May, I’ve been sharing with you my experience with the Eureka Brushroll Clean Vacuum. Last week I gave your an honest review of the Eurkea Brushroll Clean Vacuum (there were some pros and cons), and this week I’m going to spend a little time detailing one of the coolest features of the vacuum, the self-cleaning brushroll.
Cleaning the brushroll on a vacuum is a pain. And unfortunately, if you have a child or family member with long hair or a dog that sheds their weight in hair, it is a fact of life. In fact, one in 10 Americans cite a tangled brushroll as their biggest issue with vacuuming.
Luckily, The Eureka Brushroll Clean has a self-cleaning brushroll, so you never have to use scissors to cut tangled hair away from the brushroll again. Simple press the pedal for 10 to 15 seconds while the vacuum is running and tangles are removed and deposited directly into the canister…and you get a clean, like-new brushroll. In fact, the reason Eureka made this feature is because they WATCHED how people clean and innovate solutions to everyday problems.
I was a little leery of this feature because we typically don’t vacuum up that much hair and wondered if we would use the self-cleaning brushroll. Well, imagine my surprise, when I decided to just “clean the vacuum” for the heck-of-it and saw how much “stuff” the vacuum cleaned from its brushroll. And then I thought about how that “stuff” just continually collects and makes it harder and harder to really get a clean, vacuumed floor.
In fact, I actually did a little video of it.
At this point, I may sound like a broken record, but I can with 100% certainty that the Eureka Brushroll Clean Vacuum is a super deal for $198 (it’s sold at Walmart). Between the incredible suction (independent testing confirms its proven power cleans carpets better than Dyson DC41), how lightweight it is and the self-cleaning brushroll, it’s a win-win vacuum.
And speaking of win-win, we have the last chance to win a vacuum on the blog.
If you are reading this post in a feed reader, this is a Gleam Giveaway and will require you to go to the website to enter. Giveaway open till end of day May 24th and only to residents of the continuous 48-states.

Important feature – continuous suction!
A cordless feature should be on a vacuum; i hate being tethered to the vacuum and dragging the cord with me.
self cleaning roller
Self-cleaning brush roller
A Retractable Cord is so important on a vacuum, and an Upholstery Tool to get up all the dog and cat hairs!
I have 4 pets, so the self-cleaning brush roll sounds amazing!!
The self cleaning roller is awesome. I have long hair, so does my daughter AND we have a dog. I feel like I am cleaning that roller weekly!
I think vaccums should be able to move along on their own. lol call me crazy, but it would save me SO much work!! lol
self-cleaning brush.
This sounds great! I have 5 cats that shed like crazy, so the self cleaning roller would be awesome to have on a vacuum.
I like a retractable cord and one that is easy to empty out. I don’t want to have to struggle to do that and end up getting dust and hair everywhere.
A little rake type fork to fluff the carpet as it vacuum’s!
i like the cordless feature
A vacuum that has a separate hose is a a necessity.
A long cord so I am constantly running from outlet to outlet.
I’d love a cordless vac!
Super duper suction so I don’t have to vacuum more than once a day.
A cordless vacuum would be really nice.
nice giveaway!
A steaming feature should be included
This vacuum sounds so amazing, it’s hard to come up with a missing feature…but maybe a cordless version? Or a version that would completely operate itself so I wouldn’t have to– hey, one can dream, right?!
A feature that a vacuum should have would be a Carpet refreshener!
Experior suction! something that can suck up all the crap and fast!
It has to have a side attachment so I can clean in small area with close quarters.
I think cordless should be a feature.
An important feature that should be on every vacuum is a brushroll for sure.
An automatic adjusting wheel feature would be awesome.
I LOVE the idea of the self cleaning brush roll!!! Hair is a major problem I’m my house!
I like an easy dump canister. I also love no bags or belts.
Cordless or an extra long cord
A retractable cord or cordless would be great.
Tool Attachment Features Should Be On Every Vacuum.
I think having great suction AND being cordless (aka charge and then unhook and vacuum free of cords) is a must in our house! With a special needs kid always on the floor, it would be easier to vacuum without worrying the cord is near him.
I think the best feature on a vacum is the upholstery tool so t hat you can get in those small and awkward places to get that fur and dust up.
So needed with kids & dogs!
cordless!
A self cleaning roller! I never knew that existed.
I’m not really sure, maybe cordless.
As a pet owner a self cleaning roller sounds amazing
Hi Kelly, the first thing I test for is the weight and if I can easily push the vac back and forth
I think one feature I would love on a vacuum is that it would never lose suction. A retractable cord is nice too!
Stoping when it comes in contact with an item too big for it so it doesn’t break it or get it clogged.
A feature that is awesome is a removable hand held vacuum to use on stairs or even in the car.
I look for the feature of extreme suction power! It needs to work really well. I wish they could figure out a way to make them not have as much loud sound though.
I think all vacuums should have a swivel head so they turn effortlessly!

I think all vacuum should be lightweight, have an easy to clean roller, and an extra long cord. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.

I think a vacuum with continuous suction is a really great feature.
What an awesome vacuum. I think an detachable hose should be available on every vacuum. I think they should include several pieces and sizes such as a small one for cracks and crevices!
Since I have 4 teenage boys and 2 long haired shelties, I think a self cleaning roller is so Important so I don’t have to clean the hair out anymore!
A retractable cord, and self cleaning roller is something that should be on all vacuums.
Cordless would be nice!
A retractable cord! I get soooo tired of winding the cord up.
it seems like a power vacuum
I would love to have a self-cleaning brushroll! For me, it’s important to have an easily emptied canister, and powerful suction in a vacuum.
A feature that should be on a vacuum is the option to go cordless. This would be an answer to my cleaning prayers! LOL
Cleaning roller brush.. Is cool… Love it..
I think they should be cordless and lightweight
A long hose and cord are needed because I don’t like having to keep unplugging to reach the different spots in my house.
I agree with cordless!
Cordless would be great. It would make my kids’ job easier- ha!
Coreless!
I love the brush roll cutting feature!
They should have a very long cord!
