Have you heard?
Sprouts Farmer’s Market opened its first location in Kansas City on Wednesday in Overland Park (135th & Metcalf)!
I was excited to learn what the buzz was all about. And let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. Aside from the pomp and circumstance (no, really, there was a marching band), the store was open, airy, and easy to navigate. There were staff available in every aisle to answer questions – everything just felt friendly.
There is a little bit of everything at Sprouts. True to its name, it feels like a farmer’s market with an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, barrels of nuts and grains, and deli items. There are also everyday staples with brands you’d find at your typical grocer as well as specialty items, including a wide array of organic, natural, and gluten-free products.
For my inaugural trip, I shopped the store circular. Here is what I got:
Organic Bananas, Chobani Greek Yogurt (2), 2 lb deli prepared meatloaf, Sprouts white bread, 1 pineapple, organic baby spinach, organic oranges (4 lbs), sweet potatoes (4 lbs), cherry tomatoes, farm fresh chicken (3.5 lbs), Sprouts peanut butter, Annie’s Organic Salad Dressing, organic apples (4lbs), Sprouts Eggs, Sprouts frozen veggies (2), spaghetti (2), and a nifty reusable grocery bag (FREE).
Grand total: $39.82.
I try to shop organic when I can. Sprouts made it easy. The organic bananas at $.48/lb were the exact same price as the regular bananas. The organic apples at $.88/lb were actually cheaper than some other types of regular apples. The organic baby spinach for $2.00 was less than my buy-it price for boxed salad at other grocery chains.
Be sure to check out the Double Ad Wednesday deals – the store circulars run Wednesday-Wednesday, so you can shop the deals from both ads on Wednesdays. I’ll definitely be adding this store in to my weekly rotation. And, you can expect Kansas City Mamas to list the weekly ad match-ups soon!
Sprouts is awesome! They occasionally put $5 off $30 coupons in the flyer and once or twice a year you can buy Sprouts gift cards for 10% off too. I get almost all our produce there 🙂
We have had the SAME grocery stores in KC for almost 16 years. It’s super exciting to get both a Sprouts and Fresh Market in the same year. I’ll keep a lookout for the coupon and 10% off gift cards. Thanks Char.
Im so excited about this one I’d seen matchups/prices on other blogs and thought one day. I buy almost all organic between trader joes, fresh market, & sprouts I can say Im happy now.
We have Sprouts in Colorado and I love it! They have great produce and meat sales. You can find red peppers 3/$1.00, blackberries 4/$5, and the best sale I have ever seen: honeycrisp apples for $.88/lb. Usually the sale price at other stores is twice that. Enjoy!
Thanks Heather…we will. I’m so stinkin’ excited to have a new grocery store in town.
Do they have sign up for ads/coupons/mailing list?
I was wondering – I live In LIberty area but willing to travel but how do we get their ads and coupons – (as mentioned above) – –
You can check it out on http://sprouts.com/ and also we will be doing matchups every week http://www.kansascitymamas.com/category/store-deals/sprouts/
