It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Today is a special day for me (sniff) – it is the FIRST day of the Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale.

Now through August 6th, clothing, accessories, and shoes for the family are on sale – with prices up to 50% off retail.

I know this site is dedicated to saving money, but it is also about making SMART purchases for your family.

I buy my kid’s school tennis shoes at the Anniversary sale every year. I pay maybe $10 – $15 more than I would at Kohl’s for brand name shoes (Nike, Reebok, New Balance).

Why do I do this? Because Nordstrom’s measures their feet, makes sure they are sized correctly, my kids love their shoes, and for some reason the shoes last TWICE AS LONG. DS has his shoes from last year and they are still holding up – no holes or ripped apart soles.

    I am a single mom and am always doing for my child and never for me. If I were to win I would finally buy me something to make me feel like a woman instead of just a mom.     I’m a stay at home mom who takes care of my daughter. She was born 11 weeks premature so we decided it would be best for me to quit my job so she would get the best care and not have to go to daycare. She is one now and doing awesome! My husband is a firefighter for Overland Park and works 24 hour shifts. So needless to say I’m hardly ever “off duty”. I love my job but I could really use a mini shopping spree and would buy a new outfit for myself :).
