It’s funny how you can gage the age of your children by what is left in their pockets in the laundry room…
With my youngest, I still find little toys or pencils. With my two teenagers, I find headphones, food wrappers and unfortunately, ball point pens. (Usually red or black. When I wash with whites.)
A couple of weeks ago a red pen was left in one of my older boys’ pockets. Needless to say, the load of “brights” got a whole lot more colorful with red ink smears on everything. Actually, it looked like a crime scene and I had no desire to play detective. With a lot of googling, hairspray, stain sticks and elbow grease, I was able to make the clothes look as good as new.
Since it took me a good 15 minutes of Google Search and a last ditch attempt on Facebook, I knew I needed to make a laundry room stain removal guide printable and attach it to the wall. Hopefully, this will save all of you the frustration of red ball point pen.

Hi there,
First off I want to thank you for a few of the tips I didn’t know about with tackling these stubborn stains!! Also I have looked everywhere and haven’t been able to find an answer for the following and was wondering if there was a slight chance you may be able to help on this as I think ur my last hope….
. I have a 3 year-old little boy who, well lets just say his favorite thing to do is play with liquids etc. and “likes to Experiment”…He recently got into my cleaning products(thank god I use all natural cleaning ingredients) and so over the course of 5 days he has: 1. poured my extra virgin organic coconut oil all over our carpet 2. 2 days prior snuck the pancake syrup out of the kitchen, while I was cooking, and emptied the ENTIRE bottle about 2 feet from where the coconut oil was spilt! 3. About 3 days later, and only three more feet away, he emptied vinegar and baking soda in various places throughout the next 4feet of carpet I’ve now put a lock on a closet filled with every liquid imaginable. My problem is I cannot get the coconut oil nor the syrup out of my carpet!! The vinegar and baking soda were a sinch ofcourse since that’s what I clean alot with. Do you know any tricks/tips to help me on my carpet…especially since this is a rental!!!! I would appreciate ANY ADVICE, PLEASE help me!
THANK YOU,
Brooke
