I love to entertain. And in Spring, there are plenty of opportunities to have people over for a party.

And while you’re planning your next get-together, try some of these simple tricks to make a lasting impression:

Make your spread look pretty: Lay out some of your cutest tea towels and create a drink station with stemless wine glasses, a pitcher of water with sliced cucumbers, lemons, or berries. Offer sodas in a fun bowl covered with ice. Simple presentation goes a long way toward making your event feel special.

Make your prep easy: I recently invested in some appetizer plates and silverware for entertaining. They aren’t fancy, but they also aren’t plastic. I can pull them out on the fly and I don’t have to worry that I’m not stocked with paper supplies when I want to have people over last-minute. The plates are small enough I can fit 24 in my dishwasher making post-party clean-up a snap.

Create a list of go-to menus: Every time I entertain, I save my menu on a 3×5 recipe card. That way, I can remember what I served, and I have ideas for my next event. Just recently I had a friend ask me to help her create a menu for a jewelry party. It was easy to assist with my list of menus.

    Our next get together will be a gender reveal party next weekend! We are having a boy…..shhh! Thanks to Pinterest, I have more ideas than I can wrap my head around (which isn’t a bad thing). While there will be many pink and blue drinks, snacks and decorations, we will reveal the gender by having everyone choose a pink or blue balloon (based on what they think baby is) and we will of course poke tiny holes in the pink balloons ahead of time so only the blue balloons inflate! Can’t wait!

    I would love the Costco gift card. I am not a member of Costco and this would be like paying my membership. My next get together will probably be outside in front of the house in May. We are a very new cul de sac with some moving in after November and it has been too cold to visit. I am thinking about hosting a “make your own ice cream sundae” or either a bring your favorite appetizer/dessert party where we can all talk to each other and meet our neighbors. I could use the card for supplies and goodies and save the almonds for me!
