I was in Chicago last week for the Kenmore Couponista Challenge.
Most likely, you saw me begging asking for votes on Facebook and Twitter.
In a nutshell, I was competing against two other Frugal Shoppers (Below: Briana from Bargain Briana, Lauren from Savings Addiction, me, and Kari the Couponista hostess). Our challenge was to purchase 25 items for a Labor Day Party and see who could buy those items for the least amount of money. The person who purchased the items for the least amount would win a brand new Kenmore 33 Cubic Foot French Door Refrigerator.

From the beginning, I was pretty sure I had no chance of winning. Not because I’m not a smart shopper, but because my philosophy of saving money is very practical.
- I don’t shop at a ton of stores.
- I use my price book religiously.
- I don’t have a gazillion dollars in ECBs or Catalinas available.
So, even though I didn’t think I had a chance, I was still excited to work with Kenmore (we are a Kenmore family) and spend a couple of days in Chicago.
So on Tuesday of last week, we spent some time at the Kenmore Labs and filmed the Kenmore Couponista Challenge Event.

It was a hoot. I’ve done live television for years, but this was an actual SHOW with live audience. During the show, I learned a ton about the Kenmore Line of Refrigerators.
- Did you know that each one of their produce bins actually seals? And that most other brands don’t seal? Sealing is important because it helps your produce stay fresher longer (like up to another week and a half).
- You can fit 33 basketballs in the 33 cubic foot French Door Fridge. Or 55 can of soda. Or 58 packages of cheese. Or a small child. (Seriously, I’m pretty sure DD could fit in the freezer of this puppy.)
- Their Grab-n-Go Door allows kiddos their own area for snacks and drinks. No more having to open the whole fridge (and then stand there looking at it with the doors wide open) because this special area is made just for them.
- That they have a whole new website called Kenmore Cooks with over 1000 tested-tried-and-true recipes. Seriously, this company really loves the mamas and wants to make our life easier.
At the end of the program, they announced the winner, which was Lauren, who only spend $42.17 on her groceries. (AMAZING considering the amount of stuff we bought…)
But to our surprise, the gave us ALL a new Kenmore 33 Cubic Foot French Door Refrigerator. (You can see this selfie I took after we found out.)
(Yes, we got a new fridge….it was crazy-sauce. It was like being on Oprah.)
If you are in the market for a new refrigerator, and are looking for the LARGEST CAPACITY available without having to do a major remodel, take a look at the Kenmore 33 Cubic Foot French Door Refrigerator.
And don’t forget to become part of Shop Your Way Rewards. You earn points on your Sears, Kenmore, Lands End and Kmart purchases (and the program is FREE).
