It’s been a week, peeps. It was suppose to be the first full week the kids were back to school…BUT…the ugly flu reared it’s head and my daughter was down for the count on Wednesday. (Of course it was the ONLY day I had appointments outside of the house. Karma, right?)
So thankful that both myself and hubby are self-employed so we can switch up our schedule to make sure our kiddos are taken care of on a day to day basis.
And the good news, that extra day of rest seemed to be exactly what she needed to get well and be ready for our…
1. Weekend Getaway.
School got out early on Friday, so we are loading up the Family Truckster and heading NORTH to Minneapolis. I know, I know, Minneapolis in JANUARY!! Am I insane?
Maybe.
We caught a break this weekend because it will be GORGEOUS for driving (which is a big deal because normally there is a 50/50 chance it will be a SNOWPOCALYPSE or a FROZEN TUNDRA. But, this weekend we will have sunny skies and 40 degree weather! Which is great, because I plan on hitting up The Mall of America (still my favorite mall EVER) and the Finger Lakes for a little family time while also seeing…
2. My Best Friend.
That is Sharon. She doesn’t read my blog, so she’ll never see this picture and I’ll have to explain myself.
We met our freshmen year at college in a sociology 101 class that was filled with “greek” kids and we were two of the five “GDIs” (you can ask me what GDI stands for later..) that was led by a teacher who disliked “greek” kids. I think we both got “A” and didn’t try that hard.
Anyway, fast forward to 20 years later (?!?!?!?!?!) and we are still best friends.
There is something about having a friend who has seen you at your worst and best and still loves you (and your crazy family who you complain about all the time) regardless.
3. Bruno Mars.
So, I got on the Bruno Mars Bandwagon after last year’s Super Bowl Performance. They guy is an ENTERTAINER and sings such a wide range of different music.
Then, I happened to be flipping through the stations and caught the finale of “The Voice” and saw his performance (curlers and all) with Mark Ronson and FELL IN LOVE. If you haven’t seen it, stop what you are doing and watch it now.
So yes, I’ve been shaking my groove things (along with my pre-teen kiddos) to Uptown Funk all.week.long. And going to his concert is now on my bucket list.
Because I’m a music performance addict, here are some of my favorites over the years that still have me shaking my butt and nodding my head.
- Jimmy Fallon, Miley Cyrus & The Roots Sing “We Can’t Stop”
- Carrie Underwood “Alone” from American Idol
- Prince’s Half-Time Performance at the Super Bowl (It’s POURING RAIN people and he still brought it.)
- Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera – Moves Like Jagger at The Voice
