There are a couple of awesome deals on Kindle eCookbooks right now that are perfect for summer eating.
Barbecue! Bible Sauces, Rubs, and Marinades, Bastes, Butters, and Glazes by Steven Raichlen is available for $2.99.
Steven Raichlen, whose name needs no introduction to fans of The Barbecue! Bible (we own this cookbook), has spent years tasting the best barbecue the world has to offer. This global exposure is deliciously evident in his newest “bible,” Barbecue! Bible Sauces, Rubs, and Marinades, Bastes, Butters, and Glazes. Raichlen’s latest cookbook offers a lively introduction to such saucy American standbys as Kansas City-style and Texas-style barbecue while paying due respect to such international grill classics as Indian tandoori, Argentinean chimichurri, Korean boolkogi, and Indonesian satay (the recipes for these, by the way, are carefully authentic as well as delicious). The most important lesson Raichlen offers is his careful explanation of the components of great barbecue, which builds upon different layers of flavor.
And I know I talked about this cookbook before, but after diving into over the last couple of days, it is truly a steal. If you love all things Tex Mex (pickled peppers, relish, beans, corn, etc.), this is a cookbook that can not be beat.
The Homesick Texan Cookbook by Lisa Fain for $2.51.
Like Texas itself, the recipes in this book are varied and diverse, all filled with Fain’s signature twists. There’s SalpicÓn, a cool shredded beef salad found along the sunny border in El Paso; Soft Cheese Tacos, a creamy plate unique to Dallas; and Houston-Style Green Salsa, an avocado and tomatillo salsa that is smooth, refreshing, and bright. There are also nibbles, such as Chipotle Pimento Cheese and Tomatillo JalapeÑo Jam; sweet endings, such as Coconut Tres Leches Cake and Mexican Chocolate Chewies; and fresh takes on Texan classics, such as Coffee-Chipotle Oven Brisket, Ancho Cream Corn, and Guajillo-Chile Fish Tacos.
Even if you don’t have a Kindle, you can download FREE applications for your PC, Mac, iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, or Droid Phone.
