Welcome KC Live Viewers!
Thanks for watching me today (12/20/12).
Today we discussed ways to give beyond the Christmas time. In addition to giving food and basic needs, we will also be receiving “new” electronics and can find ways to donate our older ones to worthwhile charities.
PS….and if your kids are getting a case of the “gimmees” check out these two books. Live to Give and The Best Christmas Ever.
Food
Harvesters is the largest food pantry in the Kansas City area. And while there shelfs are full over the Holiday, they are quickly depleted by January. Think about purchasing a few more canned goods than you need and donating them in January.
Health & Beauty Products
On December 26, you will see huge markdowns in health and beauty gift sets. Pick up a couple of extra and donate them to Hope House. Hope House assists women who are victims of domestic violence.
Hats, Gloves and Coats
Project Warmth supplies gently used hats, gloves, blankets and coats to those that need them in Kansas City. To donate your item, take it directly to the Salvation Army Administrative Office.
Cell Phones
New House Shelter in Kansas City will take old cell phones. Newhouse works with Shelter Alliance to recycle cell phones you no longer need or want. Some phones are then refurbished and reprogrammed with 911 for domestic violence victims, others are sold for parts. Either way you are helping women take back their lives and stay safe.
Merry Christmas! Have a wonderful and safe holiday season.
