I get a lot of magazines.

Let me rephrase that…I get TOO many magazines.

So the other day, I was trying to cut down on the growing pile of magazines, and I was reading Taste of Home. (Which by the way, is the best down-home cooking magazine EVER.) I started reading on an article about making pies and soon became *shocked-and-awed* because a known pie-maker admitted to using Pillsbury Pie Crust.

What?!?

You mean I could skip the dreaded crust-making step. I could eliminate the flour/water/crisco mixture stress and just focus on to the good stuff…the fruit filling. I was intrigued to say the least.

But I had to judge for myself – so I purchased some Pillsbury Pie Crust and gave it a whirl. And you know what? No one knew any different.

With that being said, I will probably still attack a pie crust every now and again in my effort to master the skill. But for a low-stress/high-quality pie crust – my heart now belongs to that good-lookin’ dough boy.

    When you ask what my favorite kind of pie is, that IS a trick question isn’t it. I mean favorite fruit pie, favorite cream pie, favorite misc. pie? I guess my all around favorite is a good Butterscotch Cream pie. But frankly, I have only met a few pies that I don’t like (raisin cream comes to mind)!

    I love french silk pie, but typically end up making apple pie because my husband and kids love it so much. They love the caramel apple pie. Yummy

    I already “like” you on FB–in fact that is how I saw this post!

    My favorite kind of pie has got to be pumpkin, but I also like coconut, apple, pecan, caramel, chocolate mousse…almost anything but lime or cherry! My husband’s extended family makes something called “chess pie” and every year I looked for it on the table but never did see a black-and-white square pie like a chess board. Finally two years ago someone told me it was the blondie pie I was eating.

    I LOOOOVE apple pie. I could eat it morning noon and night. I make my own homemade vanilla ice cream to go with it. I use Pillsbury pie dough all the time as it’s dairy free for my allergic son and I can also make sugar free pies for my diabetic brother in law during the holidays!!!

    My absolute fav pies are lemon merangue, pumpkin, and rhubarb… but I also love berry pies like blueberry and blackberry… and can’t forget the chocolate silk!

    My husband and I were just talking about this – I cannot choose between pecan pie and fudge pie. Both are sugary bites of heaven.

    My favorite is apple, but I’m trying to master my uncles favorite since my mom passed he rarely gets one nor does it turn out to the standard. Its called a Jeff Davis; but if you Google it – that is not the recipe we use.

    I heart cherry…or chicken pot pie, but now I think I need that french meat pie recipe, reading it made me hungry….oh and I like you too 🙂

    I don’t have a favorite pie, although pumpkin pie is pretty high on the list. I do have a favorite part of the pie, though–the bottom crust.

    I don’t like pie but I make them often for my DH. He loves all pie (he said he can’t discriminate by picking just one kind of pie).

    I love apple pie we enjoy picking apples w/ the kids and then making pies. However my favorite pie was the Tippin’s Strawberry Pie- that they only had once a year before they closed. I haven’t found it at the grocery stores that sell Tippin’s pies so I am sad. I hope to someday find a recipe that is just like it!
