So, I had to go back and look and see when the shopping trip post was dated…it was February 22nd.
Some of you may be wondering what in the world happened? Did I…
- shop and just not post.
- not shop and eat out.
- not shop and family died of starvation.
The reason I have posted since the 22nd was becauseI haven’t shopped since then. (Well, that’s not entirely true, we did buy milk at Quik Trip once.) So in essence, I haven’t been shopping in over 17 days.
This was a conscious choice for two reasons.
1.) We had a really, really full fridge when we started and I desperately wanted to get it cleaned out before we took a long weekend to Nebraska for my in-law’s annual Bull Sale. (Yes, it is exactly as it sounds….pure awesomeness.) And BOY-HOWDY did we clean out the fridge. By the time we left, my fridge resembled a bachelor’s with a gallon of milk, one lime, carrots and an onion.
2.) I had spent all of my money earlier in February and I needed to buckle down so I stayed in budget (I did).
But a new month means four crisp BENJAMINS (cause I’m gangsta that way) in my “Cash Cow Grocery Envelope” (which is the opposite of gangsta), and I took full advantage of it this week.

Commentary
My favorite deal is the Suave Lotion at CVS. In the end they were $.50 each after coupons and ECB. This deal runs through end of day 3/15.
I might be done purchasing produce at ALDI. I bought the majority at Sprouts, but held back on a couple of things because they were cheaper at ALDI. I wish I would have spent the extra $.50 per package for strawberries. It took me five minutes to find two packages that weren’t damaged, smushed, or moldy. Not worth my time or the savings if they go bad quickly.
We are juicing more and more at Casa de Snyder. And I LOVE it. (Hence, all of the cucumbers, ginger and green apples.) I have a post that I’m working on about the benefits I’ve been experienced (because everyone is different), but it includes better sleep, less PMS, and more energy.
And finally, not shopping for over two weeks made me realize that I need to get better about meal planning. When I was forced to “work with what I had” I became a dedicated meal planner which meant we were less stressed at dinner time AND the kids actually ate what I made.
What about you? Think you could go 17 days without shopping?
