Back To School Giveaway: $25 in Coupons for Free Del Monte Products (3 Winners)

Today was the first day of school for DD and DS.

At our school, 50% of the kiddos qualify for free or reduced lunch. In most cases the food they receive at school (breakfast and lunch) may be the only meal they receive all day.

And that statistic makes me so sad.

It makes me sad that kids are hungry.

Sad that they don’t get fresh fruits and veggies very often.

And sad some kiddos will battle obesity their entire lives.

When I was contacted by Del Monte to see if I would be willing to post about their second annual online “Teacher Monday: Cash For Classrooms” contest, I jumped at the chance for all of the reasons above and more.

In exchange for promoting healthy eating and living into classroom messages, over the next six weeks, 60 teachers (10 per week) will earn $750 each in cash to purchase school supplies and $250 in coupons for fresh fruit. And the contest is as easy as getting some votes.

It’s a win-win. Teachers get to promote a great message and have needed resources for the classroom.

And Del Monte wants a few Kansas City Mamas readers to get in on some fresh fruit and veggie action.

The Prizes

One winner will receive a Grand Prize of a Del Monte School Supply Backpack (hopefully donated to a worthy school) and $25 in FREE Del Monte coupons.

Two winners will receive $25 in FREE Del Monte coupons.

    AND I posted on my webpage =) My son is a free/reduced lunch kiddo as I am a full time student and I am so lucky he gets breakfast and lunch at school. They even get a fresh fruit snack every day provided by America’s Second Harvest which is a nice treat during that afternoon slump!

    Pineapples!! + I subscribed…not sure why I didn’t do that before. LOL AND I’m going right now to post this to my facebook! While subbing, I’ve seen the kids getting backpacks of food to take home on weekends and I want to help….the more I save, the more I can give! 🙂

    I love pineapple. If I win, I’ll donate it to the school I work at, where a high percentage of kids are on free and reduced lunch.

    My daughter takes her lunch to school because I can provide her a better lunch than what is available at school. While I appreciate that it might be the only meal some kids receive in a day, I wish it was better quality. Chicken nuggets (if it is really chicken), french fries, roll, and cookie are not my idea of a healthy meal.

    I LOVE Del Monte Bananas!!! I can put them in smoothies, add them to cereal, or just eat them plain!     I love and my kids love pinnaple. The school that my kids go to have alot of diversity of cultures and they struggle to get school supplies I am sure that these would come in handy for sure. I would love to take that to there school and to provide some needed supplies to the kids that need them.

    I love the fruit in the jello-gel. My son loves it, plus it’s less messy than the fruit in fruit juice. LOL
