The purpose of What’s For Dinner? is to provide you a recipe with items on sale this week, with no more than 10 ingredients (not including pantry items), and coming in at under $10 per meal.
I’m hosting Christmas at my house.
My parents and my family will do our usual Christmas traditions together – go to church on Christmas Eve, watch “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” after the kiddos are in bed, open presents on Christmas morning, and eat a BIG meal on Christmas Day.
I’ve received a couple of emails about my Christmas Dinner Plans – so I thought I would share our “menu” this week in “What’s For Dinner?”
I didn’t put any extra money toward this dinner – everything we will be eating is accounted for in my $300 per month budget. (And don’t judge on the healthy factor, it’s only Christmas once time per year.)

I LOVE Strawberry Pretzel Salad! It’s so bad for you but soooooooo good. We always have ham, sour cream potatoes, corn casserole, rolls, and salad. I just realized we are having the same menu at my mom’s house as we are having at our house and only two days apart. Oh well.

Ali – I love the strawberry pretzel salad too. Seriously, any “salad” that has butter as an ingredient has to be awesome, right? Merry Christmas to you and your family. Have a great day.

That looks wonderful. We have a Swedish Christmas for our big meal on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately there’s no way to do it on a budget considering there is one store in town that carries the ingredients. They don’t put it on sale and there are no coupons. But we all pitch in (Mom, Dad, sister and me) so it alleviates some of the strain. And talk about unhealthy, but it tastes soooo good!
But on Christmas Day, I just cook one of my husband & kids favorites. This year they asked for beef stroganoff. I started to plan this yesterday and found out I had all of the ingredients already save for mushrooms, onions & sour cream. I was floored!! So you didn’t realize this, but that was your present to me. You taught me how get it while the price was great and I didn’t break the bank now.
So thank you thank you!! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!!

Erica – Thanks for comment. I’m so glad that you were able to plan a meal from your stockpile. And Merry Christmas to you too!
