Thirsty Thursday is the quest to drink good, cheap wine that is $10.00 and under. Want some more recommendations? Check out the past cheap wine posts on Thirsty Thursday.
As a general rule, I’m a red wine drinker. And I like about all the varietals of red wine.
I can’t say that about white wine.
Hubs has been trying for YEARS to make me a Chardonnay drinker. (And honestly, I think they only reason he keeps trying is he know I won’t like it and that he will get the whole bottle to himself.)
However, I have become a fan of certain white wine varietals and certain winemakers style of production. Case in point…
the Barefoot Pinot Grigio for $6.99.
This is one of my go-to Spring and Summer wines. (And since it is going to be 70 degrees here today, I’m having Springtime thoughts.)
When I drink it, I instantly think of sunshine.
It is bright, light, and fruity, with the right touch of acidity. And by fruity I mean the flavors of green apple, white peach, and a hint of orange. It is stored in stainless, so there are no oak undertones.
It is best served cold – but not ice cold (at least your second glass) because you will miss out on the flavors. I would pour and then let it sit for a few minutes to open and warm up.
This wine would be an excellent paired with a salad, fettuccine alfredo, spicy Thai cuisine, or two of your favorite girlfriends.
And at $6.99 a bottle, you won’t need to find an excuse to open it up on a sunny day while you watch the kiddos outside riding their bikes. Because after this winter, everyone needs to enjoy sunshine in a bottle.
Note: This wine should be available at most liquor outlets. Please be responsible when you drink wine – and never drive drunk…seriously, that is just stupid in this day in age.
What about you? Have a wine, cocktail or spirit you want to share (I promise to try them)? Link up or leave a comment. Linkbacks are appreciate, but not required.
Because life is too short to drink bad wine.

Your beautiful description of this pinot is exactly what I would write about my absolute fave – Country White by St James, a MO winery.
It’s amazing, and under $10. It’s not at CVS, but you will see it at HyVee and other local grocers.

You clearly missed your calling, Kelly! What an awesome review 🙂
Funny, I just posted today about kosher wine (on a budget, of course). Our price points are usually over $10, plus I’m sure most of your readers aren’t needing kosher-only wine, so I won’t link up. But clearly your Thirsty Thursday must’ve been on my brain since my post went up today as well!

I am the exact opposite. I love almost all white wines. My new favorite is Barefoot’s Moscato. Everyone I have recommended this to loves it as well. and at 5.49 a bottle you can’t go wrong! 🙂
