Paso Robles…how I love you.
I love being able to share wines I have seen, smelled, tasted and experienced at a family-owned and operated winery.
And this week’s I’m reviewing and recommending 2008 Peachy Canyon Incredible Red Zinfandel from Paso Robles, CA.
The Incredible Red is a widely distributed wine that is available about anywhere – grocery stores, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and Metcalf Discount Liquor. And usually, I don’t have many good things to say about grocery store wine because it is usually mass produces, heavily marketed and not very good.
But this is damn good wine.
This zinfandel has a dark ruby color and opens with a fruit bouquet of strawberry, cherry, and ripe blackberry. It’s a medium bodied and balanced wine that produces hints of chocolate, coffee, and savory spices and finishes with mild oak and clove. It has a high alcohol content (as most zinfandels do) at 13.9% – so drink and savor each sip to avoid hangovers.
Because this is an all around great wine, it will pair with about anything (or just guzzling it from the bottle) – grilled or BBQ meats, burgers, mild cheese, or a hearty salad.
And even better –
It is on sale this week only at MDL Liquor and Metcalf Discount Liquor for $7.99. (reg. $9.99)
And yes, we bought a case.
And it was money well spent.
And you can’t come over.
What about you? Have you bought wine from a winery you visited? Have to shared that wine with your friends? Isn’t it fun to tell your friends about the vineyard? Leave a comment or link up because life is too short to drink bad wine.
Don’t forget to use the Thirsty Thursday Wine List when creating your wine shopping list.
Note: This wine should be available at most liquor outlets. Please be responsible when you drink wine – and never drive drunk…seriously, that is just stupid in this day in age.

Thanks so much for your review of the Incredible Red! We love making it so that people like you can enjoy it. With this last bottling (we just finished—phew!!!) we gave the packaging a little facelift, so now the the bottles will look a bit different… They’ll be red now, to match the name. 🙂
