I have a confession. In the past (before couponing), food drives stressed me out. With two kids, one income, and grocery prices skyrocketting, our weekly budget for food was tight. The thought of having to go over budget to donate canned food when I was just making ends meet to feed my family was, well, stressful. But I also knew God would provide for us and that, as a Christian, I was to serve the needy.
I generously shared my time, but my “bread” was less than bountiful. This year, thanks to couponing things have changed. I can hardly wait to fill my donation tote and take it to church. It’s somewhat of a challenge to see how much I can buy with $10 and lots of coupons. When I get home, I just put the items in my large tote that I keep near my pantry and when it’s full, take it to my church to donate. It’s also a good idea to assess your pantry every once in a while to see what you have too much of and donate part of your stash.
Currently, my church is having a Hunger Stopper Challenge. Click here to read all about it and see how you can get involved – donate, collect, or serve! Also, check out our earlier post on Harvesters.

Here at KansasCityMamas.com we are trying to do our part by including the word “CHARITY” in the weekly deals next to the free or really cheap items you can buy and donate. What can you buy for $10? Share your success story with us!
