I’m in charge of laundry at Casa de Snyder.
And by in charge, I mean I won’t let anyone else touch the laundry.
Yes, I’m a control freak who might have made doing laundry too difficult.
(That is a rhetorical question, I know I’ve made it too difficult.)
But in my control freak mind, every shirt, pair of jeans, set of pajamas or dress has some commentary before I put it in the washing machine.
Here are just a few of the things I think:
1. Which pile to put it in? “All like-colors must be washed together. Blues don’t like reds.”
3. What is that stain? “Wonder how much SHOUT I’ll need to use?”
2. How hot of water can I wash this in? “What is that {insert word – smell, grime, dirt}? Maybe I should spray it with Lysol too.”
4. Can I bleach it? “I love bleach.”
5. Should it be line-dried? “Those jeans were tight last time…better line-dry them.”
Add to my control-freakiness the fact I was using a 19-year-old basic washer and dryer set. And by basic, I mean each machine had two choices – regular or delicate and hot air or nothing.
So imagine my delight, surprise, and sure joy, when Nebraska Furniture Mart contacted me and asked if I would like a new Samsung Washer & Dryer set in exchange for talking about my experience on Redefined Mom.
(It wasn’t a hard decision.)
And here they are! Aren’t they SO PRETTY?!?!
But pretty don’t get the laundry done. I’ve had these machines for a month now and I can’t wait to tell you about the things I LOVE and the things I’m getting USED TO.
Things I LOVE About Samsung Washer & Dryer Set
1. The capacity of the washer. I thought my old washer and dryer were LARGE capacity. I was SO wrong. My old set were munchkins in comparison. With the Samsung Washer, I can wash THREE sets of queen-size sheets in one load. THREE!!! That’s one load of laundry for all the bedding in our house. I might have just heard angels singing.
2. The power of the dryer. Even though the washer could handle HUGE LOADS, I wondered if the dryer would be able to keep up? The answer…YES, they match in capacity. Which means no waiting around or doing the “let’s not start another load till the dryer is done” dance.
3. The built-in sink. I don’t have a laundry room. I have a laundry closet. And a closet doesn’t come with a sink. But my new Samsung Washer has a BUILT-IN SINK! Water pours into the little sink inside the WASHER. And when you are done soaking or scrubbing, you lift up the sink and everything magically goes into the washer to be ran like a normal load.
4. Steam cycles. Anyone else forget about laundry in the dryer? Now, with the steam cycle on the Samsung Dryer, I can get fresh, unwrinkled clothes in a matter of minutes. No more starting OVER…just start the steam cycle. This is a GAME CHANGER.
5. ECO-Friendly. Even with all the bells and whistles, the Samsung Washer & Dryer are energy-star rated and eco-friendly. I realize it is a small thing, but using less energy and water and being more efficient is important to me.
In fact, you can get a better idea of why I love my Samsung Washer & Dryer in this video.
Things I’m Getting Used To With My Samsung Washer & Dryer Set
1. All the bells & whistles. I had a washer with two cycles (regular and delicate) and a dryer with one cycle (on or off). To say I was good a hacking a basic system is an understatement. There are probably 15 different washer cycles (and that doesn’t include eco, pre-soak, mixed load and a whole bunch of other things) and 12 different dryer settings (like the steam options, bedding and more). There is even a Super Speed that washes a full load in 36 minutes. The washer and dryer are smarter than me…that has been hard to admit.
2. The capacity. While I love the extra huge capacity, I didn’t realize how deep the drum would be. I’m lucky that I’m 5′ 9″ because if I were any shorter, I’d need a step stool to get my clothes out. It’s DEEP in there.
3. Child lock. I do laundry once a week. And I get it ALL DONE in one day. So when I find a random sock after starting the “whites”, I just want to throw it in. Not with this washer, it goes into lock down. You get a few precious minutes at the beginning of a cycle to add more clothes, otherwise you have to wait.
4. The top of the machine is slanted. When you do laundry in a closet, you maximize every ounce of space. This includes the top of your dryer. I used to store laundry baskets, detergent, and fabric softener on the top of the dryer. Because of the slanted top, I can’t do that anymore. Things will slip off the washer and dryer and crash on to the floor and make a huge mess. (Ask me how I know this.) This was probably the biggest obstacle since getting the new set.
Overall, I’m over the moon with my new Samsung Washer & Dryer set. It has cut my time doing laundry by 20% … the large capacity washer and dryer have been a GAME CHANGER. It’s sad to say, but it had been so long since I looked at a new washer or dryer, I wasn’t prepared for all the new advancements.
Plus, I’m a Nebraska Furniture Mart devotee. Every mattress, television set, couch, recliner and appliance in our house has been purchased at NFM. Their delivery, customer service and pricing has always been TOP NOTCH. Seriously, the delivery guys made sure EVERY feature worked before they left the house and they changed the side the dryer door opened so laundry would be easier for me.

I have the same set. The Start button on the washer is also a Pause. It pauses and unlocks it so you can throw in late additions.
