It’s been a long time since I did one of these posts.
To be honest, it was laziness, combined with a dose of “why would anyone give a RIP what I thought was cool?” attitude that made me quit.
And then I decided, to hell with it. I was going to keep writing. Why? Because I love reading other blogger’s favorite lists. I find the best content to read, share, and enjoy.
So, even if my mom and mother-in-law are the only people to read these posts, they will be here every week.
Here are a few things that are making me happy right now.
SERIAL podcast.
A few months ago, my good friend Kristen, texted me a link to the SERIAL podcast, followed by the words, “YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS.” Of course, I blew her off.
Then over the last 30 days, I’ve watched this tidal swell of my friends become SERIAL podcast addicts, complete with listening parties, blog posts, and debates about whether or not Adnan did it. That made me take notice. (Sorry, Kristen.)
So, on the drive to Keystone, CO earlier this month, Hubs and I listened to all 10 hours of this podcast and were hooked. And I’m saying “YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS.” to all of you.
For those that are like me (living under a rock), the SERIAL Podcast is a spinoff from This American Life, that follows one story, regardless of where it takes them, to the end.
From the SERIAL podcast website,
“It’s Baltimore, 1999. Hae Min Lee, a popular high-school senior, disappears after school one day. Six weeks later detectives arrest her classmate and ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, for her murder. He says he’s innocent – though he can’t exactly remember what he was doing on that January afternoon. But someone can. A classmate at Woodlawn High School says she knows where Adnan was. The trouble is, she’s nowhere to be found.”
You know when life is stranger than fiction and you just can’t make up the twists and turns…that is THIS story.
And for those that have already listened to the SERIAL podcast here are some add-on gems.
FITBIT Flex
I received a FITBIT Flex (aka little torture device) for Christmas.
As a blogger, I sit on my ‘arse a good chunk of the day. And that sitting was beginning to catch up with me and my back side.
So I thought I would get on the FITBIT craze. I figured it would help me be more active during the day because of the accountability. And if I’m truthful, I thought I would rock it because I do work out on a regular basis.
But you know what I’ve learned from Mr. FITBIT Flex, is that I suck at FITBIT.
Like really suck. I think I have a 10,000 step goal and I’ve not hit the mark once. The only day I came close was the day I went after-Christmas shopping with my mom. And I was still 1,300 steps short.
But even though I suck right now, I’m committed to hitting my goal and WINNING. I’ll show you FITBIT, I’ll be in the RED every day. TAKE THAT!
COW Art
I moved my office into our home’s loft earlier this year.
And while my desk and credenza show my personality, not much else did. To be honest, for someone in the creative industry, it looked an awful lot like an accountant’s office. (A very boring accountant’s office.)
But not any more!!!
I bought this HUMONGOUS beauty (she is 4′ by 4′) and hung her proudly in my office. My family thinks I’m nuts, and I don’t care. I love her. I love Betsy.
