There were times this week when I thought I was DONE IN…between finishing all the tweaks and little touches on the blog remodel, an actual kitchen remodel, a car in the shop, and the kiddos starting activities, homework, and practices…I was about to lose my ever lovin’ mind.
I’ve come to the realization that I NEED order in my life. And when too many things are new, different, or out-of-order, I start to feel the sense of panic and anxiety (because as my mama would say…my planets are not aligned).
Thank GOD for an accepting family, great contractor (who also happens to be my husband), and wine.
I may need to reorder those…
But through all the chaos, I was able to fall in love with some new things, figure out what exactly was thing I loved, and have one of my favorite things reappear.
Here are the three things this week that are making me happy…
1. Ed Sheeran. I realize this puts me in the camp of crazed pre-teen girl, but I’m so DIGGING his music right now. Earlier this week, I heard the song “DON’T” while on a run and fell in love. While I had no idea who was singing it (at the time), I figured it was another hip-hop or reggae artist.
WRONG.
It’s some scruffy lookin’ white red-head dude.
I love the whole album. If you are looking for something catchy, yet with reggae/hip-hop influence, you must check out X by Ed Sheeran. Plus, your pre-teen will think you are ‘da BOMB.
2. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Fingernail Polish.
I have a small addiction to fingernail polish. (I even have proof…here are pictures of my addiction.) I love me a good gel manicure (in fact, I have a UV Light in my bathroom right now), but they can wreck havoc on a girl’s nails.
I’ve read several articles about the new Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Fingernail Polish and every single one of them has been POSITIVE. Easy to use. Great colors. Long-Lasting. Easy to take off.
So this week I decided to give it a shot. It’s a two step process. Two coats of color and then one coat of base coat and you are good to go. It coats very evenly and was easy to apply. One downside is it has the same dry time of regular nail polish…so it isn’t paint and go like gel manicures. Each bottle costs between $8 – $10 (depending on the store).
The VERDICT…I’ve had periwinkle blue on since Saturday AM and it doesn’t have a chip. I’d say it is a WINNER!
I may just be in love and my nails will be thanking me for not having them look like they went through a lawnmower after a manicure.
3. NCAA Football is BACK. And it’s about damn time.
Say what you want…but SATURDAY is the best day of the week, especially when you start it with Chris, Lee, Desmond, and Kirk and ESPN College Gameday. (Especially, Kirk. I have a teen-girl crush on him. Maybe I’ll listen to Ed Sheeran and do some daydreaming.)
I love college football. There is no sport with more emotion, more unexpected events and more upsets than NCAA Football. In my humble opinion, you haven’t lived until you have tailgated and watched a game at one of the top stadiums in the nation.
So if you become a Football Widow, I’m sorry. (My husband becomes one during this season too.) But me, I’ll be on the couch watching…and waiting to see if Florida State can stay a top the polls.
GO HUSKERS!!!
AND as a bonus…if you haven’t had a chance, make sure to enter the Redefined Mom Giveaway Bash. I’m giving away $1700 worth of my favorite things…and someone has to win….it might as well be you. The giveaway ends tonight (8/30), so jump on over for your chance to win.
