Summer is here.
And if you are like me, you are around your kiddos a little more than normal.
And inevitably, my kids are always asking me for something. So my purse has went from a status symbol (yes, I do own a Coach purse) to a survival kit.
Here are the top five survival items I carry in my purse during the summer:
- iPhone with Netflix…because a short movie in the doctor’s office can change all sorts of attitudes.
- Gum…because it is harder to talk and ask questions about whether or not monkeys love maple syrup with gum in your mouth.
- Wet Wipes…because someone is always sticky, dirty, smelly, or bloody after a trip to the park.
- Cash…because a soda or candy bar from a vending machine at the zoo always tastes better.
- Sun Screen…because it never seems as sunny when you leave the house as it feels when you get to your destination.
And because Always & P&G know that MOMs have to juggle many responsibilities (and sometimes forgets about herself) during the summer, they are offering a Cherry Moon Mediterranean Sun Bath and Body Gift Basket to one lucky Kansas City Mamas Reader.
Included in the gift basket:
- Lemon and Orange Scented Bath Gel
- Lemon and Orange Scented Bubble Bath
- Lemon and Orange Scented Bath Salts
- Lemon and Orange Scented Bath Bomb Fizzer
- Wooden Massager
- Loofah Sponge

I always keep wet ones, package of crackers or granola bars, a bottle of water or capri suns, a small memo notebook, and small pack of crayons. I have been out too many times with the kids and things took longer than planned so I at least have something to keep them busy for a few minutes. Of course we also fall back on the rhyming game or I-Spy (always a fool-proof plan with my kids).

I have the most beautiful Kate Spade bag that seemed so much more fashionable before it was crammed full of necessities like a spare diaper, travel wipes, allergy medicine, Kindle with children’s books and games on it (I bought that thing just for ME and it, too, has turned into a survival tool!), extra barrettes and hair piggies (am I the only one that calls them that?) and single serving snacks.
I follow you on FB, too 🙂
My small coupon organizer that has tabs for all the different stores. After my weekly shopping list is figured out, I clip all the coupons and put them in their tabs because I don’t want to take my 20 pound binder out shopping! 🙂

Tide pen. Boogie wipes. Hair Ties. Smart Phone (with kid apps that do not make you want to claw your eyes out afer 5 min.) Chap stick. Toy Car. Crayon. Headphones (for when the app does make you want to claw you eyes out.) Diaper/Wipe Pack (small so it fits in the fashionable purse.) Binky. Sanitizer (have you seen what kids will attempt to put in their mouth/nose/eye???!?) Lastly, cash & coins. Yes, I also cave at vending machines for sanity. I see it as a win.
I also “like” you. A lot. 🙂
gum or mints need to be in my purse.

Kleenex, allergy medicine, tylenol sinus, emergen-c fizzy packet, shout wipes, hair scuncees, purell with the pump (yes I am nuts and overkill), nail file, pretty much everything, ladies products (which can be used for any spill in your car, they are very absorbing), sunscreen small size, tylenol in a tube. I have lots of stuff. I have learned that people always need things. I have more things on here but thats TMI. Its also okay to carry other people’s stuff—little kids stuff, like toys and training pants, adult spouse stuff, like combs and medicine, and even pre-emptive strike if you know your friends like candy, have some in there for them. My theory is, candy tastes better if its free and you are not eating it at home. Also, it’s funny to see adults get all jazzed up on candy. Grown men and chocolate are a good combination. They don’t even know they are getting rowdy. A suppose adults have been eating candy for so long they don’t know that they get silly when they eat too much sugar and caffeine. Just my opinions.
My iphone is the number one survival item in my purse.. My kid plays games in it while I shop.
