Can we just take a moment and say THANK GOD IT’S SATURDAY?!?!?!?
This week was nutso at Casa de Snyder. I swear my kid’s school was trying to pack EVERYTHING into a four-day week, right before Spring Break. Who does that???
Between two band concerts, a band photoshoot and pizza party, piano lessons, soccer practice, two PTA meetings and a boy scout meeting, I was ready to consume a glass (or four) of wine on Thursday night.
But the good news is we are off for 10 days and I’m looking forward to hanging out with my kiddos and have a break from our usual go-go-go-go schedule.
So here is my Spring Break list of things that are making me happy…
1. Avocado Toast.
This concoction has become my new found obsession. Is anyone else an addict like me? Seriously, I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never get tired of it. (In fact, I instagramed my obsession earlier this week.)
For those not on the avocado train, it’s so simple. Pick your favorite avocado carrier (usually a bread product – I prefer english muffins), add a half or whole sliced avocado (depends how big your avocado is) and then add a topping.
My favorite toppings are California olive oil and ground pepper or only Sriracha sauce or cheddar cheese and smoked tabasco.
And don’t say I didn’t warn you about addiction, you’ll be buying avocados like they are going out of style.
2. CND Vinyl Luxe Top Coat
While I was getting my hair highlighted and cut earlier this month (which I guess could also be counted as things I love), I was talking to my hairdresser about gel nails, and specifically getting a gel polish on my toenails.
She looked at me like I was nuts and said, “Why do that? Just use the CND Vinyl Luxe Top Coat??”
I was confused because I thought that it only worked with CND Nail Colors…nope, I was wrong. You can use the top coat on any polish and it will harden the polish for a 14 day chip free existence. #ikidyounot
Can I tell you how happy this made me??? I love the chip free existence of gel polish, but it is does straight out murder on my nails. The look like they got in a fight with a paper shredder. With CND Vinyl Luxe Top Coat, I get the best of both worlds….chip free and healthy nails. Win-Win, Baby.
3. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in A World That Can’t Stop Talking
I’m an introvert.
This statement is SHOCKING for so many people who have met me. They say things like, “No way. You are so good at talking to people.” or “No. You are such a great speaker.” or “No. You aren’t shy.”
And, truth be told, I am good at talking to people, speaking in public, and far from shy. But, I am an introvert…I get recharged by being by myself.
So, this week I have been devouring Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking. (This also includes head nodding and saying things out loud like “I always knew it!” which is driving the rest of my family bonkers.)
Here is a synopsis from Amazon:
In Quiet, Susan Cain argues that we dramatically undervalue introverts and shows how much we lose in doing so. She charts the rise of the Extrovert Ideal throughout the twentieth century and explores how deeply it has come to permeate our culture. She also introduces us to successful introverts—from a witty, high-octane public speaker who recharges in solitude after his talks, to a record-breaking salesman who quietly taps into the power of questions. Passionately argued, superbly researched, and filled with indelible stories of real people, Quiet has the power to permanently change how we see introverts and, equally important, how they see themselves.
This book has helped me understand my “introvertedness” …. and made me not feel crazy or bad for being “done” every now and again. And then recharging by retreating to my bedroom for 24 hours while binge watching my Netflix shows. If you think you are introverted or live with someone who is…I highly recommend Quiet.
And if you missed it, here are three new post for the week:

Thanks for sharing about the top coat. I’m going to have to give that a try. My nails are on the weak side so I haven’t tried gel polish before.
I meant to comment on your previous post about sandals – I totally agree about the Sam Edelman Gigi sandals! I discovered them last year and bought three pairs. 🙂 I’m still tempted to go back one more this season.
I hope you have a wonderful Spring break!

Caitlyn – I know, are San Edelman sandals amazing?! Love them and I think you will love CND too, it’s worth the few dollars for a manicure that will last at least a week!!
