365 Days | 365 Items Challenge
So this month, I’m tackling my abyss…also know as my spare bedroom closet.
As I discussed last week, this closet is like a junk drawer only with carpeting and painted walls. All sorts of random ‘schtuff seems to make it in there.
And while I got rid of a collection of candles, there was still so much more to do.
Like getting rid of these Various. Home. Decor. Items.
Because really, your spare bedroom closet is where all home decor should be placed…
First, I’m not sure I didn’t see this candle last week. It must have run and hid behind some miscellaneous set of sheets when I was doing my purge. (As to not be found and thrown away.) HA. Little candle, I found you. And you were immediately exiled to the island of garbage.
Second, I’m a big believer in buying things you love and you will find a place in your house for them. I’ve done this on countless occasions and sure enough, I find a home for the item I love.
I don’t love any of these items. They were all purchases at one garage sale or another for a couple of bucks with the hope they would work in my house. As you can see, they didn’t work. Unless you count hanging in the closet in the spare bedroom working…
And evidently, I had a thing for gold for awhile.
With being said, there are several home decor items that I kept in the closet. Instead of letting them run willy-nilly around, I placed them all in a basket. Easier to find and less clutter.
All of the items, except that pesky candle which had a one-way ticket to paradise, were price tagged and placed in the garage sale pile where they will be sold next Spring.
So how did you do? What things did you let go this week? Did you tackle your abyss? How’s it going? Leave me a comment and let me know.
The 365 Day Challenge is getting rid of one item per day over the next year to declutter your house and your life. You can see all past posts on the 365 Days | 365 Items Challenge.
