Thirsty Thursday is the quest to drink good, cheap wine that is $10.00 and under. Want some more recommendations? Check out the past cheap wine posts on Thirsty Thursday.
As it gets warmer and warmer outside, it can become harder and harder to drink red wine.
Let’s face it, drinking a merlot or syrah when it is 90 degrees outside can be less than appealing.
We want a icy cold drink after we have mowed the lawn, raked in the garden, or chased kids at the swimming pool.
And that is why I’m recommending the Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling from the Columbia Valley in Washington.
The winemaker notes say it is “…a refreshing, off-dry Riesling vintage. The wine delivers sweet lime and peach character with subtle mineral notes. This is our “every day Riesling” that is a pleasure to drink and easy to match with a variety of foods.”
This wine would go exceptionally well with Asian Cabbage Salad or Seseme Noodles.
One of the best things about this wine is its consistency year-in and year-out. We’ve been drinking this wine for several years and have never had a disappointing bottle.
Also, this is a sweeter Riesling. Not super syrup sweet, but much sweeter than the Rudolf Mueller Riesling that I reviewed a few weeks ago. In fact, this is a great wine to buy if you are just starting out on your wine journey. Many “non-wine” people have been turned to the “dark side” when they started drinking Rieslings.
And after Summer is Fall – and then you will be ready to try some of those merlot or syrahs.
Note: This wine should be available at most liquor outlets. Please be responsible when you drink wine – and never drive drunk…seriously, that is just stupid in this day in age.
What about you? Have a great summer wine? Are you willing to become a “wine-person” and try this Riesling? Leave a comment or link up. Because life is too short to drink bad wine.

I LOVE Thirsty Thursdays and I love this wine. Thanks for highlighting it. One totally unrelated wine that I recently tried was a red blend called Hey Mambo. It was fantastic…and just a bit over the $10 mark at $12.99…but an amazing wine for the money.
Keep up the GREAT work and wonderful wine suggestions!
