This week has been a little crazy.
And by that, I mean above and beyond the normal crazy. It’s always a little crazy here.
Why the extra craziness?
I’m working my tail off on a super SECRET project that I can NOT tell you about yet. (Yes, I’ve become one of THOSE people.)
And when I can tell you, it will be EPIC!!
So in addition to the added craziness this project is bringing me (and the family), I’d thought I’d share three things I’m loving right now while it is crazy-town at Snyderville.
1. Nebraska Beating Michigan State.
So last week, the Football Gods got together (but not the FOX Football Gods – I don’t think the Boz has any power), and decided it was time for a team to lose by one-point in the final minutes of a football game.
And for once, they didn’t pick Nebraska.
This football season has been HARD for the Husker-faithful. (Did you see that Purdue game?)
So hard in fact, that our Athletic Director had to write a letter to the Nebraska Fans telling them he stood behind Mike Riley as head coach.
(That is never a good thing…to have to write a letter.)
Anyway, last weekend’s game against Michigan State was filled with all sorts of drama.
- Alex Gordon came home and was cheered by his hometown peeps. (Yes, he is a Nebraska boy. Rumor has it, he and his family live there in the off season. )
- Steve Spurrier was on the Nebraska sidelines in Husker Red. (My mom texted me asking what would I do if they made him part of the coaching staff? I answered with “It would make loving the Huskers hard.”)
- There was a controversial referee call that pretty much handed Nebraska the game. (But if we are honest, there were probably seven controversial calls/no calls that night that went both ways.)
But, we won.
And by the way we stormed the field, posted on Facebook and tweeted on Twitter, you would have thought we won the National Championship.
The Husker-faithful felt redeemed last Saturday night…a bright-shiny moment in an otherwise black season. And we soaked it for everything it was worth, because honestly, it might be the only moment we have.
2. Using Cetaphil As A Shaving Gel
The seasons have changed.
And my skin is itchy.
During the summer months, I have no problems using regular shave gel or body wash as the “lube” to shave my legs and bikini line. But when Fall starts, it doesn’t cut it. No matter how much lotion or oil I use after my shower, my legs still itch like I got attacked by poison ivy.
I read the “Cetaphil” tip awhile back on Pioneer Woman and this week out of desperation, I gave it a try.
It is one of the best things that has ever happened to me in a shower. (We won’t talk about those other top things…this is a family website and it was 20-some years ago.)
If you struggle with itchy, dry legs, you might give the Cetaphil trick a try. (And on another note, I swear the Cetaphil is the jack-of-all-trades beauty product, as I have written about it tons of times.. Is there anything it can’t do?)
3. Madame Secretary.
It’s my new binge-watch show.
I wanted to start watching it last season (as it is before The Good Wife), but it runs concurrent to wrangling the kids into the shower.
(Yes, even at 10 and 12, it is still freakin’ wrangling. It just comes with more and louder verbal excuses.)
And yelling, “GET IN THE SHOWER!!!!” is a two person job at Casa de Snyder.
So I’ve never had a chance to watch it…until now.
I think I like it because…
- It has Tea Leoni and Tim Daly in it and they were both on television shows when I was younger. And they are DATING now…by the way, isn’t that asking for television suicide if things don’t work out?
- It reminds of me West Wing Light. Snappy dialogue, relevant issues, but not too intellectual.
- And I love Tea’s wardrobe.
As a binge-watcher, I’m pretty sure I’ll get through the rest of the episodes this weekend when both kids and Hubs are OUT OF THE HOUSE for 30 hours. Ah…bliss.
And in case you missed it, I started my 10 Days of Holiday Cookies, Candies and Sweets series and here were the posts from this week.
