I’m fighting middle-age as hard as I can, by exercising regularly and watching what I eat.
But there are times when the first three responsibilities make my last responsibility really, really hard.
Between running two kids to and from school (I’m there three times a day because I pick up my youngest from half-day kindergarten), writing on the blog, working out, taking care of housework, planning family activities and meals, and getting kiddos to extra cirriculuar activities – there are days when I forget to each breakfast or lunch.
And I have found that when I forget to eat, the smallest thing can set me right into a bag of Doritos or box of Wheat Thins and cheddar cheese slices. And as I comfort myself with food, I watch my hard earned workout go down the drain.
I’ve learned (through many trials and ERRORs) that I have to keep something in my tummy all day long or I end up like one of the characters out of a Snickers commercials, complete with Snicker bar in hand.
My usual go-to snack is a CLIF bar. But sometimes I don’t need or want that many calories (they are 240 per bar) or it feels more like “substance” in a bar format and not very tasty.
So when LUNA asked me to review their bars, I said a very excited, “YES”.
First, LUNA Bars made by the CLIF Bar company. It is a company that I know and trust and love.
Second, LUNA Bars are tailored to woman. Their flavors are more in line with my taste buds. (Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Cherry Almond, Mint Chocolate Chip – are you noticing a theme here?)
Third, LUNA bars are lower calories (around 180) than traditional CLIF Bars and they still have a high level of protein (12 grams or higher).
And because I believe (at least I hope and pray) that I’m not the only one who forgets to eat breakfast or lunch because they are too busy worrying about everything else – I’m giving away (5) LUNA Prize Packs which include a sample pack of LUNA Protein bars as well as a bonus treat from LUNA.

i do the same thing, i grab whatever i can find because my one year old daughter doesn’t give me any opportunity to make something. some days i eat a handful of skittles and a string cheese as breakfast/lunch its hardly ever healthy and probably is the reason that I work out everyday but my weight is always the same 🙁

My go-to snack is definitely any Clif bar product: original clif bars, Luna Bars, Clif Builder’s Bars, ZBars—-I love them all! My sis and dad even made me a clif bar cake for my birthday (http://caloricandcrazy.wordpress.com/2011/08/11/on-the-weekend/) They have just enough sweetness to fulfill your candy bar craving, but provide enough nourishment as a snack or quick meal. I also love collecting the wrappers and saving them for Terracycle, a company that uses the wrappers of several products to make new items.
If I were one of the winners, these bars would be helpful in giving me sustained energy for the long hours I spend at my summer internship, as well as warm my soul with their delicious flavors ;). Haha, may sound a little cheesy, but I love Luna Bars so incredibly much <3.
