This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to Laura V.!
Back-to-school time means parents everywhere breathe a sigh of relief, and teachers roll up their sleeves to get going on another year.
When you think about it, teachers are everyday heroes. We turn to these women and men to not only teach math and English, but to ignite sparks of creativity, build self-confidence and foster a life-long love of learning in these little people we’re raising.
Dollar General has teamed up with P&G to honor educators in their Everyday Heroes program. During September, Dollar General is recognizing Kimberly Shearer, an English and library science teacher at Boone County High School in Florence, KY, as its Every Day Hero. As an eight-year veteran of Boone County High School, her commitment to educating our youth and advocating for 21st century literary skills through the use of technology helped earn her the title of “Kentucky Teacher of the Year.”
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation is celebrating 20 years of helping individuals learn to read, earn a GED or learn the English language because they believe these are investments that opens doorways for personal, professional and economic growth.
Did you know you can use P&G brandSAVER® coupons at Dollar General? Look for the newest insert on September 1st.

My everyday hero is my mom! She has taken care of my father for on 13 years- after his heart attack he suffered major brain damage. Which left him unable to do anything outside of walking and watching tv- he has no memory of us and my mom. But after 25 years of marriage it has not stopped my mom from loving him unconditionally! She takes care of him and took over the family business. She went from homemaker to astounding business women! I have to say the broke the mold when they made my dad! He was a loving generous intelligent and gentle! For most my life I thought that he ran the show- come to find out my mom was behind him 100% and still is! True love for sure- and a testament to what marriage is!

Honestly, my Every Day Hero is a crazy fun group of people who participate in the Susan G Komen 3 Day for the Cure back in MI. They are walkers who train, fundraise $2,300 and walk 60 miles over 3 days while camping out and crew members who give the entire weekend to ensure the walkers are taken care of and supported so that they can complete their walk. I won’t choose just one of them as they are ALL my Heroes 😀

I really have 2 hero’s in my life. My 1st here is of course my mother who taught us her morals and values in life.
My 2nd hero is a young lady who just a few days after graduating high school was diagnosed with a rare cancer Ewing’s Sarcoma in which her entire bottom left jaw had to be removed and rebuilt from a bone in her leg. Through all of obstacle’s she has had to over come from the Chemo and infections from blood transfusions and in and out of the hospital during this difficult year she has held her head high and always kept a smile on her face. Showing everyone you can overcome everything.
As of August 2013 this young lady is now cancer free and has become engaged to a young man that has been by her side this entire ride and is now planning the next chapter in her life.
Madison, you are truly my hero.
