Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and my husband is already asking what I’d like for a gift. While Mother’s Day is quickly becoming one of the biggest consumer spending holidays and we all anticipate a little token of affection, so many of us would really like to be asked, how would you like to spend your special day?

This past Sunday, when the weather was cold and stormy, we spent the entire day indoors together. It was one of the most relaxing days we’ve had in a while. No running from place to place, just time together. For me, that’s my ideal Mother’s Day – church and a relaxing day spent together with the people I love.

I love the idea of a HoneyBaked Ham for Mother’s Day for this very reason. I don’t want to get stuck standing in line at a crowded brunch restaurant waiting for a table after church with a bunch of cranky strangers. And, I certainly don’t want to have to cook. You all know my family dinner woes. How easy would it be to have a delicious dinner waiting for me that I know everyone will love?

I even came across an easy recipe dad and the kids could help with, if they felt so inclined.

HoneyBaked Ham Pizza

Preheat oven to 450º

Using pre-cooked Focaccia bread or pre-cooked pizza crust, layer in this order:

  •    1 – 10″ pizza crust base
  •    1/2 cup prepared pizza sauce
  •    3/4 cup coarsely chopped Honeybaked Ham
  •    3/4 cup coarsely chopped pineapple slices
  •    1 1/3 cup grated mozzarella
  •    2 tablespoons grated Parmesan

Bake for 15 minutes.

    I would like to spend Mother’s Day with sleeping in, breakfast in bed, relaxing church morning (including getting everyone out the door…now that takes a miracle!), relaxing lunch at home, long nap, and then hanging with the family!

    I would like to spend a nice quiet day at home on Mother’s Day, NOT cleaning. 🙂 Puzzles, games, movies, etc. That sounds ideal!! Maybe even doing a little gardening with everyone helping.

    My Mother’s Day consists of waking up super early and participating in the Mothers Day 5K with my sister in law and mother in law, then meeting all the boys (we 3 are the only girls in the family- nothing but sons and grandsons) for breakfast afterwards. Then I go home and nap!

    I am so lucky this year that my mom will be in town over Mothers Day weekend. I am going to spend it with her for the first time in years!

    I love to spend mother’s day shopping for and planting flowers with my kids and hubby. They always take me out for breakfast too which is my favorite meal of the day!

    Perfect Mother’s Day…reading a book (longer than 10 pages and without pictures) on the porch swing while watching the kids play together (and get along) in the yard.

    My Mom passed away 10 years ago from cancer so Mother’s Day is sad for me, but I’d like to spend the day with my sister celebrating what a good mom she is to my niece and remembering the good times with our Mom.

    To make it easier for my family I usually try to pick an activity we can do with the grandmothers as well otherwise it can turn into a day of juggling schedules. This year if the weather permits and the fruit is ready I want to go strawberry picking and a lunch somewhere.
