DIY Chalkboard Paint Pumpkins – Easy Thanksgiving Decor

Looking for an original way to show how thankful you are? These DIY Chalkboard Paint Pumpkins are perfect for Thanksgiving decor and SUPER easy too.

I find decorating for Thanksgiving hard.

I’m not into using the usual suspects like turkeys, scarecrows and corn stalks, OH MY! I like my Thanksgiving decor a bit more minimalistic and classy. I’m also kind of lazy and usually go for the most simple crafts.

Well, I figured out a great project that is fairly easy and makes a big impact — my DIY Chalkboard Paint Pumpkins for Thanksgiving Decor. These pumpkins are modern, yet homey. With the chalkboard pumpkin you can leave little thankful notes to your family and guests. Right now I have my pumpkins on our dining room table and they look fabulous!

What you will need:

Looking for an original way to show how thankful you are? These DIY Chalkboard Paint Pumpkins are perfect for Thanksgiving decor and SUPER easy too.

Instructions to make:

  1. Paint your real pumpkins with white spray paint and let dry completely or use white craft pumpkins from your local craft store (like I did).
  2. Using your thumbtacks, begin to make your pattern on your 2 smaller pumpkins by inserting your thumbtacks into the pumpkins. I did a chevron pattern on my 2 small pumpkins.
  3. With the glitter craft paint, paint your stems on all of your pumpkins. Let dry completely.
  4. Next, with the black chalkboard paint, paint a circle on the front of your medium sized pumpkin. Paint two coats, letting it dry completely between coats.
  5. Once the chalkboard paint has dried, begin to insert thumbtacks all along the perimiter of the chalkboard paint making a frame.

That’s it! Now you have your own DIY Thanksgiving Pumpkins to brighten up your home. Bonus, no turkeys, scarecrows or corn stalks were harmed :). Enjoy!
