This year I’m turing the big 4-0.
Which, if I will be honest, is a little scary and sad for me.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the wisdom, perspective, and grace I have vs my 20-year old self. But as a woman who cares about her looks and how she feels, I can definitely tell things are “changing” within my body. Aches happen more often, weight is harder to take off (especially around my mid section) and I don’t have the stamina I once did.
So when Aveeno contacted me about their three-week #AveenoDailyChallenge, I knew it was the push I needed. The goal of the challenge is to change one simple thing (or in my case three) for three weeks to a create healthier and more beautiful you.
So because I’m an overachiever I chose to hydrate more, move more, and nourish more.
Hydrate More
I’m a awful water drinker. Plain water bores me to death. I need a little flavor (and it doesn’t have to be sweet flavor, just flavor).
And while I could have just “made” myself drink more water, I decided it would be better to have a visual cue to help me reach my goal.
My goal: 2.5 quarts per day
My tool: The Fruit Infusion Water Pichter
Isn’t is pretty? Doesn’t it make you want to drink more water to see those pretty lemons in there? And I can change it up and make it strawberries, cucumbers, or raspberries. Plus is gives me a visual cue of how much water I have to drink in one day.
Move More
For years, I was a dedicated five-times-per-week-for-one-hour workout person. Then the blog grew. And I started doing other freelance work. And I got lazy. And I quit working out.
And then my jeans quit fitting me.
So, I’ve become dedicated again. (Because my philosophy is you can always buy new if it is too big, but you aren’t allowed to buy new when it is too small.)
My goal: Working out between 30 – 40 minutes per day with a mix of running, HIIT workouts, and ab exercises (aka planks) for five days per week.
My tool: So in order to really see how many calories I’m burning, I bought a new Polar Heart Rate/Monitor Watch. I find that when I can compete against myself, I push myself harder to exceed my previous goals. (I’ve owned two other Polar Watches in the last 15 years and LOVE them. Great value for the money.)
Nourish More
I stink at remembering to take my vitamins and supplements. It isn’t that I take a lot of them, but for some reason I can never remember to take them. And what good can they do when you remember Monday, forget Tuesday through Friday, remember Saturday and forget on Sunday.
So I bought the BIGGEST pill case known to man. How in the world could I forget if this when it is THIS BIG!
My goal: Remember to take all of my vitamins and supplements
My tool: This BIGGEST PILL CASE KNOWN TO MAN
And in addition to that, I’ll be using AVEENO® Daily Moisturizing Lotion each day to nourish my body on the outside too.
I’ll be updating my ups and downs each Friday over the next three weeks. And you can find about all of the bloggers and their #aveenodailychallenge on Aveeno’s Facebook Page.

It’s funny because I set pretty similar goals to yours a week ago. I also hate to drink water, so I make sure I fill this particular water bottle up four times a day and my workout regimen has definitely ramped up! Now I really need to work hard at the food intake, I realize that this is my biggest downfall.
I’m looking forward to hearing about your experience with the Aveeno moisturizer, I have been trying to come up with a good, yet economical face product.

Tara – it’s a journey for sure…but as I get older I realize that I don’t “bounce” like a used to, so I need to make life long choices. And as far a good, yet economical face product, I’ve been an Aveeno user for about two years and LOVE. LOVE. LOVE their stuff.
