As we begin our march toward Springtime and berry season – I am reminded why these were such a good investment.
Case in point, I’ve been purchasing strawberries the last couple of weeks. After I bring them home from the store, I plop them in one of these and just pull out as needed.
Evidently I have been busy or the fridge was overflowing or something, because I noticed the green container in the back one day with one lone strawberry in it.
My first reaction, “Uh-oh. That puppy has been in there for two weeks – I bet it is a moldy mess.”
Surprise… it was fine. Not super fresh mind you, but no mold and still edible.
Seriously.
If you are looking to make an investment to help you cheap produce last a little longer, I highly recommend these Rubbermaid Produce Saver Storage Containers. Even better they are on sale for $11.22 at Amazon right now and are worth EVERY penny.

That has to be the fastest impulse purchase I’ve ever made. Of course I’m so starved for Spring I think I’d buy anything green. Thanks for the recommendation. I’m throwing out some less than fresh produce today and I hate doing that.
