Thirsty Thursday is the quest to drink good, cheap wine that is $10.00 and under. Want some more recommendations? Check out the past cheap wine posts on Thirsty Thursday.
Last week I attended the Savvy Blogging Summit in Colorado Springs, CO. I met tons of bloggers, heard great presentations, and met with several vendors.
Most vendor meetings included some wine. (I know, this shocks you about me.)
I ordered the 2009 Cabernet from Hahn Winery. Let’s just say that the meeting and the wine were awesome. (Which was a bit of surprise, but made me super happy.)
The reason I liked the wine so much is that it’s profile is very Central Coast. (Fruit forward, not too many tannins, awesome finish, just very well-rounded.)
The nose was wonderful with dark fruits and a hint of espresso or rich coffee. It has a bit of acidity (also referred to as “party in your mouth”) which provide a crisper middle that isn’t too heavy on tannins (or sandpapery), but enough to make it a good food wine with a light steak dinner or great burger. And at under $12 per bottle – it is a wine that can be enjoyed “just because.”
So, pick the 2009 Hahn Winery Cabernet for any dinner plans, happy hour, or lunch meeting. Because I’m beginning to think that wine should be a part of all business meetings.
Don’t forget to use the Thirsty Thursday Wine List when creating your wine shopping list.
Note: This wine should be available at most liquor outlets. Please be responsible when you drink wine – and never drive drunk…seriously, that is just stupid in this day in age.
What about you? Have you had any surprise wines lately? Leave a comment or link up – because life is too short to drink bad wine.
