It is hard for me to believe that it has been 10 years since the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
I remember very clearly where I was at when I saw the news coverage of the plane hitting the first tower.
I was getting ready to go to work and watching the Today Show when they broke their regular programming to show that a plane had hit the tower. I kept thinking that a mistake must have happened – that it was a small plane gone wrong and it was a horrible mistake. And while my heart hurt for the people inside of the plane, I really thought nothing else of the coverage.
Until….
The second plane crashed into the other tower. I knew at that point it was deliberate and I sat and watched in horror for the rest of the morning. Nothing prepared me for the images of people being rushed to safety, a plane hitting the Pentagon, another plane crashing in an open field, firefighters and policemen risking their lives to control chaos, tens of thousands of people walking across the Brooklyn Bridge to safety, or the final implosion of the two towers as they came crashing down.
So, today I say a prayer today for all of those who lost a loved one either in the attacks or fighting to control the chaos on September 11, 2001.
What about you? Where were you at and what were you doing on September 11?
