I love the Overland Park Farmers Market.
I love it for a number of reasons, but the number one reason…ALL of the vendors are local, small businesses.
These local, small businesses create a potpourri of vendors at the Overland Park Farmers Market. Small family farms, grass-fed beef ranchers, homemade sausage makers, honey producers, cupcake bakers, bread artisans, cheese makers, flower growers, gardeners, natural soap makers and many more.
These local, small businesses get up at the crack of dawn every Wednesday and Sunday and sell their products (which changes often) until the crowds die down or they run out of product.
And they will take the time to tell you about their products. How they are grown, made, designed, or baked. And about ingredients, fertilizer, growth-time, or limited editions.
Why?
Because they love their products. And they want to make sure that you love their products.
So knowing and experiencing this, I was flabbergasted at the the number of vendors that DID NOT have a website or a way for me (the customer) to communicate with them (the vendor).
There are so many things they could communicate:
- What products will be available this week.
- Crop reports.
- Limited edition items.
- More in-depth knowledge about the farmer, artisan, or owner.
- Prices.
If you are a local business owner, know that GoDaddy (which is who I use for my domains), wants to make sure that no local business has #NoWebSitis. It’s too easy (in today’s technological world) to have a webpage and communicate with your customers. (See the You Tube Video Below.)
