Our family joined several blogging families around the ‘sphere to a Three-Week LISTERINE Oral Care Challenge.
As a family we committed to these things…
We are also going to institute a family brush time in the morning and the evening, so the kids will see Mom and Dad brushing and flossing too.
Because we are not great flossers (there is just not enough time in the day), we are going to floss every night after dinner.
We are going to rinse once a day, in the evening.
So how did we do?
Here’s what I learned:
The cooler the stuff, the more apt the kiddos are to use it.
Who knew that new toothbrushes, cool flavored toothpaste, and fun mouth rinse would make my kids WANT to brush their teeth? They do. It worked.
If you give them a chart, they won’t use it. If they find the chart, they will use it.
So we got a cool toothbrushing chart from LISTERINE and my kids never used it. They brought home one from school, they use it everyday. Go figure.
My teeth feel better after flossing.
They do. And it’s an addictive feeling. However, I like flossing sticks better than regular floss.
LISTERINE burns my mouth.
I kept thinking I would get used to it. I didn’t. It burned like an SOB (and DD had a rough time too). But for the boys – they loved it and did it once a day.
So what habits will we keep…
- Brushing twice a day as a family.
- Using floss at least once a day.
- Buying cool oral care stuff – like new toothbrushes, rinse and toothpaste.
