It’s the week before Christmas.
And if you are like me, it isn’t a week from Wednesday that makes you worried, it’s this coming Friday.
Why, you may ask, is Friday making me worried? Because it marks the 1st day that the kiddos are out of school.
For the Snyder Clan, the first day of Winter Break is complete bliss. Brother and Sister play together. No one complains. There is love in the air.
And then it gets progressively “unblissful” each day afterward until start school again. So this year, I took it upon myself to create a list of activities to do (some that need funds, some that don’t need funds) to help hinder the “unblissful” moments.
One of the best bangs for our buck is Great Wolf Lodge. In my opinion, Great Wolf Lodge is one of the most affordable mini-getaways. For under $200, you have water park passes for four people for two days and one-night accommodations. The facilities are SUPER CLEAN, the staff is very AWARE and ATTENTIVE, and the water slides are PRIMO fun. And so much swimming wears out the kiddos, so they end sleeping good two nights in a row.
Right now and until January 5th, Great Wolf Lodge is celebrating Snowland. Snowland is a combination of winter wonderland and water slides that is fun for the whole family and includes:
- Daily Polar Wolf Walk in the Grand Lobby, complete with a tour of the lobby animals and lessons about polar bears and penguins.
- Enrollment in North Pole University, where kids complete fun, holiday-themed assignments around the resort for the chance to earn a Snowploma and a surprise gift.
- Santa’s Letter Depot, the perfect place to leave a last minute, hand-written and decorated letters
- Daily visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus
- Great Clock Tower Howl-iday Show and Story Time – Families come together for this special edition of the Clock Tower show and the reading of the new Great Wolf Lodge story, Unique as a Snowflake.
- Meals inside the resort’s life-size gingerbread house. New this year, Great Wolf Lodge has partnered with Just Born, makers of PEEPS, Mike and Ikes and Hot Tamales, to create the one-of-a-kind gingerbread house.
- The edible walls of the lodge-baked abode have as much heart as taste; for a $10 fee, guests may enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner in the yummy cottage. Proceeds from each meal benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
