I have received many emails for concerned KCM readers about donating items for Joplin Relief.
So many of you have been awesome about posting different collection sites on the KCM Facebook Page – and please keep those coming.
But I also wanted to provide you another opportunity. This one is from my church – United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.
We just send a semi-load of bottled water and Walmart Gift Cards this morning, but they will be working the next few weeks on creating Personal Car Kits and Joy Buckets for Children.
Personal Care Kits
These items will be collected through June 3, 2011 and a special volunteer operation will pack them on June 4, 2011 at 9 am at the Resurrection Leawood Campus located at 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS 66224. (The West Building)
Items Needed:
Fluoride toothpaste (6 oz. or larger)
Single Wash Cloths
Single toothbrush in original, unopened packages
Single bath-size bar of soap
Single deodorant
Single bottle Skin Lotion (11-14 oz.)
Single Hand Towel
Single Bottle Shampoo (11-14 oz.)
Disposable shaving razors (2 per package if possible)
Combs or Brush
Ziplock, gallon sized
Joy Buckets for Children
These items will be collected till June 10, 2011, and a special volunteer operation will pack them on June 11, 2011, at June 11 at 9 am at the Resurrection West Activity Center, 23720 W. 83rd Terrace, Shawnee, KS.
Items Needed:
Coloring books
Box of crayons (24 count)
Activity or sticker books
Box of colored pencils (8 count)
Packaged fruit snacks or granola bars
Child-size plastic sand bucket with handle (approx. 12″ tall)

I don’t say this because it is my church, but it is honestly SO EASY to donate at Church of the Resurrection. As soon as you walk into the doors of the West Building, there will be wire racks where you can place your items. It’s as easy as walking in and walking back out.
