I smell laundry detergent and fabric softener.
Like open the bottle, close my eyes, and take a whiff.
Yes, I realize I’m weird. (Not just for this thing…but a WHOLE laundry list of other things.)
Why do I do this? I think it gives me a sensory memory of clean laundry coming out of the dryer. And that smell reminds me of a sense of accomplishment, perfection (because it is clean, not dirty) and inner-peace that I don’t have to do that load again for another week.
It’s those little things…that sense of accomplishment in a load of laundry…that get me through the craziness of the Holiday season.
So don’t judge when I smell the laundry detergent (And have you smelled Gain by the way? Best smelling laundry product EVER!), it could be my touchstone to not going crazy with deals, shopping, cooking, kids, pageants, activities, baking, wrapping, and more.
