$10 Vitacost Credit = Two Cans of Tahini for $7.00 Shipped + Hummus Recipe

We love to make homemade hummus.

Why?

Why did I say “most of the time”? Because one of the main ingredients in hummus is tahini (sesame seed paste) and it is EXPENSIVE.

I usually purchase it at Hen House for $7.96 a can and that lasts me for eight batches of hummus.

So imagine my surprise when I found that the same tahini for only $5.96 on Vitacost. And if you have not claimed or used your FREE $10 credit to Vitacost then it is only $.96 each + cost of shipping. That’s a savings of over 50% and it is shipped to your house.

Here’s how:

Also – today Ebates is offering 8% cashback on Vitacost purchases. You receive cashback on your total BEFORE the gift card – so it is a nice way to pay for part of your shipping.

And because I want you to experience homemade hummus too – here is my recipe.

Kelly’s Hummus

Ingredients

2 cups dried chickpeas (and then cooked with these bean instructions)
1/3 cup tahini – this is available at most grocery stores in the ethnic aisle
1/4 cup lemon juice, preferably fresh
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons water

Directions

1. Place cooked chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, salt, garlic, 1 tablespoon of water and olive oil in a food processor.

2. Blend until smooth – adding extra water as needed.

3. Sprinkle with olive oil and paprika and serve with pita chips or warm pitas.
